"Speakeasy plays with the sophisticated urban swank of Steely Dan, the unfettered eclecticism of Ween, and the crunchy showmanship of Faith No More...it's a party wherever they play" -Daniel Gold, Honest Tune Magazine
Since their inception in 1998, Speakeasy has gradually gained a reputation among their growing audience for their tasteful songwriting backed up by pull-no-punches rock and roll. The backbone features guitarist Shawn Eckels, bassist Reed Herron and drummer Ryan Fannin engaging in straight ahead groove-oriented progressive rock. Marcus Chatman adds texture to the Speakeasy format with an amazing repertoire that includes organ, keyboard, cello, trumpet, harmonica, percussion, sousaphone, and vocal. Their diverse influences can be heard in their distinct high-energy style that has captured the ears of music lovers and booty shakers alike. Live shows are one of the bands strong suits, never failing to give their audiences a different show each night. This great energy created in the live setting is backed up by neck-breaking rhythms, tight instrumentation and soulful four part harmonies that take the listener on a musical journey.
